Healthcare Leader and Retired CIO
Chris Belmont has been in the healthcare industry for 32 years in a variety of roles. He was most recently the CIO at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for 4 years. Prior to joining MD Anderson, he served as CIO at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, La., for seven years. He has also worked as a consultant with IBM and Healthlink and as regional vice president for Siemens.
He currently serves on several industry advisory committees supporting the use of artificial intelligence, increasing the value of vendor partnerships and mentoring startup companies in the healthcare industry.
He has led several major system transformation projects including the implementations of multiple electronic medical record (EMR) systems, big data, cognitive computing, enterprise analytics, and numerous departmental and revenue cycle systems. Belmont’s primary focus areas include building data as an institutional asset, transforming IT to a services provider and improving user experience.
